NILES, Ohio -  Funeral arrangements are pending for Niles council member at large Jim DePasquale.

Fellow council members began posting condolences Thursday for DePasquale, who formerly served as the city’s Safety Service Director.

Council member at large Jimmy Julian posted the below message on his Facebook page:  ·

I'm very saddened by the recent passing of my colleague on the city council, Jimmy Depasquale.

Jimmy had a big personality, but the only thing that might have been bigger than that was his heart. We might not have always seen things eye to eye, but there was no question he loved this city and was trying to do only the best for the people of this community.

RIH Jimmy, it was a pleasure of mine to serve with you, and thank you for the professionalism and passion you brought with you to serve the people of Niles. It will surely be missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. May your treasured memories of Jimmy be forever held in your hearts.

First Ward Councilman Doug Sollitto and Fourth Ward Council member Mindy Chapman Devorich called DePasquale a close friend who will be greatly missed.

DePasquale was 68.
