Warren man accused of purposely running over victim with car during fight

WARREN, Ohio - A Warren man is accused of purposely running over a victim with his car during a fight just after 3:00 a.m. Thursday.
Police were dispatched to a home on Kenilworth in reference to a man who was hit by a car. Upon arrival, police observed the victim and another male witness sitting on the front porch bleeding from the face and having difficulty breathing. The suspect had already fled the scene.
The witness told police that the suspect was 22-year-old Armonte North. He told police that North was driving a black Chevy Cruze, he was wearing an ankle monitor, and that he was on probation.
The witness alleges that North was coming over to his house to fight the victim. Police say this was part of an ongoing feud between North and the victim which caused the victim to block North's number on his phone.
Police say earlier in the evening, North was texting the victim's sister causing the victim to get involved and North eventually threatened to "kick [victim's] [expletive]".
The witness told police he and the victim were standing in the apron area of the victim's driveway when they saw North traveling down Kenilworth at high speed.
The witness told police North turned into the apron of the driveway and hit the victim with his car causing the victim to fly up onto the vehicle hitting the windshield and breaking it.
Police later observed patches of the victim's hair and blood on the vehicle as well.
Police say the victim then flew over the top of the vehicle before flying off the vehicle further down the street. Police say North fled the scene after running over the victim.
Police say shortly after the incident, North called the police asking to tell his side of the story.
When police located North, he would not tell police anything, but after being booked in the Trumbull County Jail, North allegedly said, "The sound of hitting someone is like hitting a deer. It's crazy as [expletive]" followed by "the only one crazy enough to jump in front of a moving car is [victim's name]."
The victim was taken to the hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.
North is charged with Felonious Assault. North was previously arrested in 2019 for inducing panic at a Warren school
