Some of the most popular condiments in the country are falling victim to yet another shortage.

Tomatoes are hard to come by in parts of the US, thanks mostly to bad weather.

California is the epicenter of this shortage.
There's an historic drought there.
In fact the last time that part of the country was as dry as it's been in the last 20 years was in the year 800.

Fortunately, the news is better for us.

We stopped by Angiuli Farms in Canfield where there are 12 whole acres of tomatoes.
They're beautiful and healthy.
Growers tell 21 News that's thanks to the overall dry weather patterns we've had this summer.
That eliminates disease caused by excessive rains and yields sweeter, riper tomatoes.
But if you have plans to do some canning or cooking with them, you'd better make good on those plans now.

"They (grocers) have a good supply of tomatoes, but maybe another month? It's going to be a different story," says grower Carl Angiuli. "Especially with the tomato sauce and the jars and canning, that's what's going to be short and we're probably going to see that more towards the winter time than right now."

Specifically, Angiuli says now through September is the time to get your supply of tomatoes, and that there's plenty to meet demand.
