YOUNGSTOWN - After weeks of decline, gasoline prices in the Mahoning Valley were up on Monday compared to one week before, when the region saw a ten-cent drop.

Gasbuddy.com analyst Patrick DeHaan reported last week that oil and gas inventories plummeted as demand increased.

A survey of prices listed on the website gasbuddy.com shows that the cost of regular gas increased anywhere from a penny to 20 cents a gallon in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties over the past week.

Those price increases are reflected in the Triple-A gas price analysis, which shows the average price of gas in Ohio increased from $3.62 to $3.65, which is still lower than the national average of $3.90.

The average price of gas in Trumbull County increased from $3.45 a gallon last week to $3.57 on Monday, according to AAA. 

The auto club reports a weekly increase from $3.51 to $3.58 in Mahoning County and from $3.54 to $3.60 in Columbiana County.

In the Shenango Valley, where gasoline is already more expensive because of Pennsylvania's higher tax, prices were either unchanged or 14 cents lower than the week before.

Triple A says average gas prices in Mercer County declined from $4.36 to $4.29.  Pennsylvania's average statewide gas price dropped from $4.29 to $4.19.

According to gasbuddy.com, the cheapest gas price in the area as of Monday morning was $3.39 at some stations in Howland, Niles, and Warren.
