Two people went to the hospital Wednesday morning when two vehicles crashed near a playground on Youngstown's West Side.

Firefighters were dispatched to Connecticut Avenue and North Dunlap Avenue at around 7:14 a.m. where people were trapped following the two-vehicle crash.

According to police, an SUV ran a red light at the intersection and was struck by a car.

The SUV then went through the playground fence, striking a tree.  No playground equipment was damaged.

The driver of the car and a front seat passenger were taken to the hospital. A child in the car wasn't injured.

The driver of the SUV told police that he was considering going to the hospital but wasn't transported.

There is no word yet on the names or conditions of the victims.
