Niles man arrested in abduction of Niles woman

A Niles man has been arrested on charges of abduction, aggravated burglary, and domestic violence after a police welfare check on the victim led police to find a missing Niles woman in Warren.
Niles police were called to a home on Olive Street in the city late Tuesday night around 11:15 pm after a 911 welfare check after a friend who was video chatting with the victim heard the victim tell a man to leave her house.
According to the police report, the friend was talking with the victim because she felt uneasy in the house after returning from dropping clothes off to a family member who was in the hospital.
The victim told the friend she had heard noises inside her house, and then allegedly said her ex-boyfriend's name, and told the man repeatedly to leave her house, according to the report.
The friend told the officers that the video chat ended abruptly.
Officers were told the victim's ex-boyfriend was Jeffrey Green, 35, also from Niles. Police didn't find the victim or Green inside her house, and proceeded to Green's house on Peffer Street.
Officers were given permission to search the house, and neither Green nor the victim was located.
Police were able to ping, or send the location request to the victim's cell phone, which showed a location of a garage on Fulton Avenue in Warren that according to the friend of the victim was Jeffrey Green's garage.
Police arrived at the garage and knocked, and the suspect, Green, surrendered to police.
The victim was found safe and refused medical attention.
The victim told police that Green was allegedly hiding in a room inside her house, and the victim told police that Green allegedly forced her downstairs, placing duct tape over her mouth and forcing her outside where the victim said Green then hit her on her face. The victim said Green walked her through the woods to the Peffer address and was placed inside Green's vehicle and taken to the Fulton Street garage.
Green was arraigned in Niles Municipal Court Wednesday, and a temporary restraining order was issued against Green to stay away from the alleged victim.
Green was arraigned on charges of felony 3 abduction, felony 1 aggravated burglary, and misdemeanor 1 charges of domestic violence.
The bond was set at $500,000 cash, and Green will be back in Niles Municipal Court on December 5 at 9:15 am.
