Boardman man accused of raping ex-girlfriend in his home

BOARDMAN, Ohio - A Boardman man has been arrested after police say he allegedly raped his ex-girlfriend in his home.
The victim told police she had dated the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Reinaldo Perez two years ago, but ended the relationship after Perez was jailed for allegedly raping a child.
Police say the victim and Perez began talking again in April of 2022 shortly after he was released from prison.
The victim told police she had gone to Perez's house on Wednesday, December 7. Police say when the victim refused to show Perez a new tattoo she had gotten on her chest he had called her a derogatory name followed by telling her he would not let her leave until she had sex with him.
Police say Perez forcefully ripped off the victim's pants and began raping her and once again telling her she could not leave until she performed oral sex on him followed by forcing her to do so.
Police say after the victim left, she was told via a text message from Perez not to tell anyone about what happened. The victim then went to Mercy Health for treatment.
Police observed the victim's pants to be torn and say the victim complained of a pain in her chest, back and throat.
The following day, Boardman Police showed up to Perez's home and commanded anyone inside to come out. Police say after deploying a flashbang, a male, later identified as Curtis Jones came out of the home.

Jones told police that Perez was not home and was at work, but police say they determined that Perez was home after speaking to him on the phone and eventually got him to come out of the house.
Police conducted a search warrant on the home, but did not find anyone else inside.
Perez and Jones were both taken into police custody and are both in the Mahoning County Jail.
Perez is facing charges of Rape, Obstructing Official Business and Parole Violation and Jones is facing a charge of Obstructing Justice.
