YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown Police are investigating after receiving reports of a house on Youngstown's west side being hit with five to six bullets while a woman and her family were inside. 

Police responded to the home on North Evanston Avenue around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The woman was able to grab her children and run for cover. No one in the home was hurt. 

An officer observed gunfire damage in the living room, as well as five bullet holes on the north exterior wall of the home. According to the report, directly to the north of the house is an open field. 

An officer also found a book with a bullet slug embedded in it.
