Part of Youngstown's West Federal closing Monday

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown’s Front Street will be busier than usual beginning Monday as work continues on the downtown SMART2 project.
City officials say they plan to shut down West Federal Street between Fifth Avenue and Symphony Place as of Monday, January 30, 2023.
Symphony Place north and south will remain open. The main posted detour will involve Front Street, according to city officials.
Youngstown’s SMART2 Network is a project designed to connect medical, manufacturing, arts, learning, residential, and training centers in the area by improving safety and mobility Downtown.
SMART2 will incorporate improved pedestrian and bicycle facilities, autonomous transit shuttles, transit waiting environments, green infrastructure, streetscaping, and wayfinding connecting major regional destinations that include Youngstown State University, Mercy Health, Youngstown Business Incubator, Eastern Gateway Community College, and WRTA Federal Station.
