Warren man accused of trying to burn down home

A Warren man has been arrested after allegedly trying to set a home on fire.
Police were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of Douglas Street NW in Warren just before 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4 in reference to a male attempting to set the home on fire.
The victim told police over the phone that the man in question was her ex-boyfriend, who police identified as 32-year-old Kyle Yaratch. The victim claimed Yaratch was standing in the driveway with a torch and a propane tank and that she could see it on security cameras.
Upon arrival, police say they observed a second propane tank sitting further in the driveway. Officers handcuffed Yaratch, who told them he lived at the home and that his ex-girlfriend had barricaded the entrance leaving him outside.
Police asked Yaratch how he could be barricaded out of his own home, to which he told officers he was talking to the victim through the door and he heard her calling the police.
Police say Yaracth claimed the victim was lying to officers over the phone and that the house did not have any security cameras. He further told officers that the reason the victim would not come out of the house is because she had warrants.
Yaratch also told police that he was using the torch as a "scare tactic." Police say despite claims from Yaracth that he never stuck the lit torch on the home, charring was observed on a doorframe.
Yaracth told police he was never formally kicked out of the home, but claimed the victim had recently cheated on him.
Police arrested Yaratch and charged him with Aggravated Arson. He pled not guilty to these charges on Monday and is scheduled to appear back in court on Monday, February 13.
