Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine paid a visit to the village of East Palestine Friday morning to discuss the project being made on cleanup efforts at the site of last month's train derailment.

DeWine took a tour of the work being done at the derailment site stating that he is very pleased with the progress being made, as well as U.S. EPA Administrator, Michael Regan's order to stop waste disposal facilities from refusing contaminants.

"It's kind of crazy because what we're sending from here is no worse than stuff they're taking every other day. In fact, they're taking a lot of worse stuff than we're sending from here," DeWine said.

A map from the EPA shows all the sites it's conducting soil sampling at looking for any ash and soot from the derailment and the controlled burn. The EPA is taking about 300 samples depending on how much ash is found. Results are not yet finalized.

DeWine also visited East Palestine High School to talk with the students and hear their perspectives on the derailment.
