Seven more communities in Columbiana County are sharing their concerns against solar farms.

Columbiana County Commissioners met Wednesday morning to discuss a ban after community members said they want their land barred from being taken to build solar facilities and wind farms.

Butler, Center, Middleton, Salem, Unity, Washington and Wayne are the seven townships looking to ban solar farms.

The ban only affects large-scale utility projects.

Some people against the ban believe smaller-scale projects could help those in the community.

"We should have solar panels on rooftops, on every house, or maybe every neighborhood or at least every town to generate the electricity closer to where it's going to be used. That's what we need to promote," Tom Butch of Salem said.

A decision on the solar panel ban will be made after the May 5 deadline when people can submit written comments to the board.
