Day of science and music set for East Palestine residents

The East Palestine students and residents are about to have a day of science and music Tuesday.
The Center of Science and Industry (COSI) and the Columbus Symphony will hold a community-wide event to help inspire youth and families around science and music. Others joining the event will be the OH-Wow Science Center, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Department of Agriculture, Ohio Department of Education and AT&T.
Village attendees will receive a free STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) kit called a Learning Lunchbox.
AT&T is giving COSI 250 free Chromebooks for the East Palestine City School District.
The day's events will take place at the East Palestine High School Gymnasium, 360 W Grant Street.
The schedule for the science demonstration and events will be:
- Student Demonstration: 1 PM – 1:45 PM
- Evening Community Event: 5 PM – 6:30 PM
- Science demonstration will begin at 5 PM
- Distribution of free science kits
- Symphony Concert: 5:30 PM
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Ohio Department of Education, and the OH WOW! Science Center will provide hands-on activities while the Columbus Symphony will provide a free concert for the families after the
science demonstration.
Support for the programs are provided by the state of Ohio through the Ohio Distance Learning Initiative, an innovative program led by COSI and a collaboration of statewide libraries, museums and cultural institutions to deliver free, hands-on science kits.
