Campbell firefighters rescued a deer trapped in a dumpster Monday morning.
According to a post on Campbell Firefighters Local 2998, firefighters were called to the city's wastewater treatment plant in reference to a deer stuck in the dumpster there.
What firefighters didn't know at first was that this was a sludge dumpster, so when crews arrived, they found the deer standing deep within the sludge. Firefighters had to remove as much sludge as possible in order to open the door and free the deer.
Firefighters were able to get the deer back into the woods where it's recovering from this incident.
At this time, it's unclear how the deer got into the dumpster.
