Safety improvement project on I-80, Routes 965, 62 in Mercer County to begin next week

Mercer County, Pa. - A $700,000 safety improvement project on I-80, Route 965 and Route 62 in Mercer County is scheduled to begin next week.
This project will include the installation of high-friction surface treatment on I-80 between mile markers 10 and 15 in East Lackawannock Township, Route 965 from east of the Route 62 intersection to west of the Route 173 intersection in Worth Township and Route 62 from Turner Station Road to South Cottage Road in Coolspring Township.
The surface treatment will provide pavement friction to vehicle in critical braking or cornering maneuvers, which could help reduce the number of crashes along the stretch of roadway.
Work along Routes 965 and 62 is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 26 weather permitting. Drivers should expect lane restrictions with flaggers directing traffic.
Work on I-80 is scheduled to begin Thursday, July 6 weather permitting and extend through approximately July 20. Lane closures will be in effect from mile markers 13 to 11 westbound, and from mile markers 10 to 15 eastbound.
The contract cost is $729,163.82, which will be paid entirely with federal funds.
