River Valley renews call to DeWine to request Federal Emergency Declaration in East Palestine

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - Just ahead of Thursday's NTSB Field Hearing, River Valley Organizing (RVO) is once again calling on Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine to request a Federal Emergency Declaration for East Palestine.
Last week, Governor DeWine had requested that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant Ohio a second extension to request a major disaster declaration due to February's train derailment.
RVO Organizer and East Palestine resident, Timothea Deeter says residents in the community simply want their children to enjoy the same peace, safety and security that they did growing up in the village.
"We want what everyone wants: clean air and water, a safe place to lay our heads at night, and to be made whole for what Norfolk Southern cost us. It's time for Gov. DeWine to stop dragging his feet so the people of East Palestine get the aid we need and deserve," Deeter said.
The NTSB's field hearing begins Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. A livestream of the hearing can be found here.
