The Mahoning County Grand Jury has indicted two 17 year olds, Anjuan Whitfield and Anthony Wilkins Jr, on charges of aggravated murder with a firearms specification and having weapons under disability following their involvement in the 2021 murder of 14 year old Landon Lockhart.

One other teenager, 17 year old Elijah Carlisle, was sentenced earlier in June in relation to the same crime. Carlisle will serve three years for involuntary manslaughter and three years for the gun specification charge.

According to Carlisle's testimony, he along with the victim, Whitfield, and Wilkins, all drove to a home on Youngstown's East Side in November of 2021.

Carlisle stayed in the car while Whitfield, Wilkins, and the victim entered the home. According to the testimony, a few minutes later, gunshots were heard before Whitfield and Wilkins emerged from the home without Lockhart.

Lockhart was reported missing shortly after the incident, but his body was not found until 2 months later on January 13, 2022, when Youngstown Police say his body was found in the woods off of North Truesdale Avenue on Youngstown's east side.

It was another 6 months before YPD made their first arrests, taking Whitfield and Wilkins into custody on June 29, 2022.

An arraignment has not yet been scheduled.
