GROVE CITY, Pa. - The theft case filed against the former director of the Grove City Library will be heard by a judge in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Following a hearing on Wednesday before a district magistrate, Amy Gallagher now faces trial on four felony counts of theft and 10 misdemeanor counts of tampering with records, according to court documents. The charges of forgery and theft by unlawful taking are felonies. Six felony counts of forgery have been dismissed.

According to Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker, Gallagher allegedly stole about $26,000 from the library in 2020.

21 News spoke with Gallagher in April when she called for financial support for the library earlier this year.

At the time, Gallagher told 21 News that a decrease in community donations, the library closing during the onset of the pandemic, and the economic issues that followed led to the library being on the verge of closing.

The library was even closed on Saturdays and operating on a skeleton staff to help cut expenses.

Gallagher is scheduled to appear for a formal arraignment before Judge Ted Nesbit on October 10.
