CANFIELD, Ohio - The sun has set on the 177th Canfield Fair.

From hundreds of activities and food options to dozens of rides and events, it was yet another successful best 6 days of summer.

The fair board told 21 News they'll get a good night's rest before they plan for next year's fair, bright and early Tuesday morning.

George Roman said the fairgrounds saw about 240,000 attendees in the first five days alone.

"It was about average from last year," Roman told 21 News."We're right on average from last year."

Added police presence this year kept this year's fair safe and incident-free, allowing guests to focus on enjoying all the fun the fair had to offer.

"Everything just was very smooth and everybody was safe and comfortable," Roman added.

21 News spoke with some fairgoers who traveled all the way from Tampa for the iconic Valley tradition.

"We were going to go some place else by the end of the month and we decided, it's too expensive to do all that," said Jacquie Galvin who calls Tampa home but is originally from Canfield. "So we decided, to switch the tickets and go to the fair."

The sun started to set as concertgoers bought last-minute tickets and made their way to the grandstands for Monday night's Boyz II Men show.

The work never ends for the fair board. They start planning for year 178 on Tuesday morning.

"We'll meet at 11 o'clock and we'll keep meeting every month," Roman said. "Our board at 7:30 am this morning, 10 of us got on a wagon and drove around the fairgrounds just to make sure we know where we can visualize these improvements and it worked very well."

"It's one of the best in the nation," Galvin said. "Why would you not want to come to this?"

"It's incredible," Mark Ray, from Tampa, added.

Roman added they always start to brainstorm some new ideas of what to bring to next year's fair. The entertainment at the fair is always decided in the springtime.
