A couple of Valley organizations that help domestic violence victims are getting a boost from the State of Ohio.

The Office of Criminal Justice Services is giving $4 million in grants to 67 agencies statewide, with the intent to help community based non-profits provide emergency shelter and services for those affected by domestic violence.

Here in the Valley, the Christina House in Lisbon was awarded $40,000. Youngstown's COMPASS Family and Community Services will get just over $92,000.

The money is to be used to establish, maintain, or expand programs that prevent domestic incidents, as well as provide immediate shelter and services to those in need. It can also be used to provide specialized services to children or members of minority populations that are victims of domestic violence.

The funds will support programming through June of 2024.
