Those with pets may want to be careful when handling their food the next time they feed them.

That's because TFP Nutrition, which makes Country Acres Farm Dog, Exclusive Signature, Economax Dry Cat food and more has extended a recall of their products due to Salmonella concerns.

According to the voluntary recall issued by the company, several of these products have been distributed in Ohio.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever.

Rarely, the disease can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.

For animals that have eaten these products, owners should watch out for lethargy, diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Abdominal pain or a decrease in appetitie may also be present.

The dry dog, dry cat, and catfish food recall is an expansion of an Oct. 20, 2023 limited voluntary recall that included 50-pound bags of Retriever Mini Chunk Chicken Recipe distributed in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.

The products were manufactured in their Nacogdoches, Texas, facility, according to a news release from the company.
