Stoneboro Fire Department’s Pub 76 brings 'much needed' community restaurant to the area

Volunteer fire departments are always looking for ways they can serve the community, and Stoneboro Fire Department is serving Mercer County in a whole new way.
The restaurant is a nonprofit and fully owned and operated by the Stoneboro Fire Department. They established a Pub 76 committee to oversee the operation and it’s finances.
The Department held their grand opening of their new Bar & Grill, Pub 76 on Wednesday, but the restaurant has been open since June.
Operators say it’s gone better than expected.
Pub 76 board secretary, Leah Rouse, said the space used to be the Fire Departments BINGO hall. After a few years of that being disbanded, they decided they wanted to once again turn this into a place for the community.
Rouse said it's much needed for Stoneboro. "We're kind of known for being a small town, we don't even have a stoplight in town," she said,"There's just one bar around the corner, but there really hasn't been a restaurant for years."
Community members have come out to show their support for the fire department. Victor Staples, a stoneboro resident, says he and his wife have come nearly every day since they opened.
Staples called the pub, "a gem in the rough."
The menu covers a wide-range of options from appetizers, burgers, fries, sandwiches, fish, wings, pasta, steaks, soup and salad. There’s also a kids menu for ages 10 and under.
The pub also offers a full bar with a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.
While Pub 76 offers food & beverage, along with skill games to the public, it’s a small fee to take part in daily number drawings, purchase rip tickets, and other in house contests. They offer membership cards, which are $25 per year.
Take-out orders can be placed over the phone at 724-376-6029, from Sun-Thu until 8:30PM and Fri-Sat until 4PM.
The restaurant is located at 38 Linden St. Stoneboro, PA 16153.
