Nearly $30 million awarded to reconstruct State Route 39 in East Liverpool

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the $29,712,043 investment in the City of East Liverpool in Columbiana County to complete the reconstruction of State Route 39 from Mulberry Street east to the Pennsylvania state line on Friday.
The funds are available through the US Department of Transportation's Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program.
The project will include pavement removal and replacement, the creation of roundabouts, lane widening and curve improvements, stormwater quality enhancements, and public utility improvements with increased broadband.
The project also allows for constructing continuous and connected sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps, curb bump-outs, on-street parking, tree lawns, and street lighting.
U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown said, “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is delivering for Ohio by fixing and rebuilding roads across Ohio – including State Route 39.”
The award, which Brown helped to write, advocated for the East Liverpool grant in the larger Multimodal Project Discretionary Grant Program, which administered the competition for Rural Surface Transportation Grants.
No anticipated start date was given for the project.
