A man suspected of murder and later found in Minnesota is back behind bars in Mahoning County after eluding authorities for 19 months.

Vashaud May, 21, was wanted by the Youngstown Police Department for the killing of 24-year-old Rawsheem Aponte.

The crime occurred back in April of 2022 when May allegedly chased Aponte down while driving in the 3800 Block of Mohawk Avenue. Dozens of rounds were allegedly fired killing Aponte, as well as wounding two others including a toddler. 

He was found in New Hope, Minnesota by the U.S. Marshals Service.

According to the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office website, may is being held on charges of murder, two counts of possession of drugs and obstructing official business.

Right now, it's unclear when the hearing for his case will be held.
