A Romanian woman named as a suspect in a retail theft ring is in the Mahoning County Jail awaiting court action that could result in her being deported from the United States for a third time.

Twenty-eight-year-old Amanda Iancu was arrested by authorities near Dallas, Texas earlier this month and brought back to Northeast Ohio to face an indictment charging her with illegal entry into the United States.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, police arrested Iancu in November for allegedly stealing $2,877 from the Kohls department store in Strongsville, Ohio.

Federal authorities say Iancu is a suspect in an organized retail theft ring operated by Romanians in Northeast Ohio.

Streetsboro Police say they recovered Iancu’s Romanian passport as well as more than $50,000 in stolen merchandise and numerous receipts in a car belonging to Iancu.

According to a court document, Iancu was deported from the U.S. to Romania on March 24, 2015, and again on July 26, 2016.

A Streetsboro Police detective told Homeland Security that Iancu said that as soon as she was deported, she would come back to the United States.

As of Thursday, Iancu remained in the Mahoning County Jail awaiting a hearing in U.S. District Court.
