A New York Times bestselling author stopped in the Valley to promote their new book.

Alex Michaelides came by the Youngstown Library to present his latest thriller novel "The Fury".

Michaelides initially started as a screenwriter before finding fame as a novelist.

This is Michaelides first book tour in the U.S. and he says the chance to meet so many people who enjoy his work is humbling.

"It's incredible to travel around and meet all the readers, booksellers and librarians," Michaelides said. "All these people play such a big part in the book world, it's been really humbling and wonderful."

Youngstown was the first stop on his book tour. The event also doubled as a way for the library and the Literary Society to raise money for programs that help adults in Mahoning County who struggle with literacy issues.

"Whatever proceeds we have from the event tonight will allow us to put programs on and start providing literacy services to adults who maybe didn't make it through school or struggle with reading," Aimee Fifarek, Director of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, said.

If you're interested in picking up a copy of Michaelides newest book, they're available now at the Main Library on Wick Avenue.
