With the recent passing of Issue 2 in Ohio, which legalized recreational marijuana in the state, municipalities across Ohio are looking to create their own regulations on marijuana accessibility.

Boardman Township Trustee Tom Costello tells 21 News the township is looking to adopt a resolution to prohibit recreational marijuana dispensaries from operating in the township.

During Monday night's trustees meeting, the trustees voted unanimously to ban dispensaries in the area. Costello tells 21 News that trustees do not feel marijuana is appropriate for Boardman at this time,

This adds to the township's current ban on medicinal marijuana dispensaries, which was adopted soon after the legalization of medicinal marijuana in Ohio according to Costello.

Costello tells us the township is waiting to hear back from the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office and the Ohio Township Association on the language necessary to legally enforce this in the township.
