WARREN, Ohio - The March Primary election is fast approaching in Ohio and 21 News is taking a look at the issues that will appear on voters' ballots throughout the Valley. This story will take a look at the Warren City Schools levy.

Warren City Schools Treasurer Karen Sciortino tells 21 News this is a renewal of an operating levy that was originally passed in 2013 and must be renewed every 10 years.

This levy is necessary to pay for the operating costs of the school district as well as the salaries and benefits of school employees. The levy generates $3.9 million per year.

Sciortino tells 21 News while the ballot language lists the levy as a 12.5-mil levy, it's actually a 9.65-mil levy due to the most recent property revaluations.

The levy would cost homeowners $338 per year or roughly $28.17 per month.

Sciortino added that Warren City Schools has not asked for new money since 1994.
