LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio - A Leavittsburg man who has learned his fate following his conviction of the kidnapping and rape of a caregiver.

Twenty-year-old Hunter Hauck was sentenced to an indefinite prison sentence of eight to 12 years in prison on first-degree kidnapping and rape charges. He also must register as a tier 3 sex offender and violent offender.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred back in July of 2022 when Hauck held a 51-year-old female care giver in a group home at knifepoint and forced her into a bedroom to perform a sexual act on him.

Hauk's attorney said, while she understands he committed the crime and a prison sentence is mandatory, she expressed sympathy for Hauk stating that he has a developmental disability.

Hauk spoke to Judge Ronald Rice and apologized for his actions and stated that he "wants to change."

Judge Rice told Hauck that while the court is certainly sympathetic to his disability, there was no excuse for his actions, which Judge Rice described as "every social worker's worst nightmare."

Hauck was deemed competent to stand trial after two psychiatric evaluations.
