A 65-year-old man who died after a car he was driving crashed into a tree on Youngstown's Southside late Wednesday has been identified.

The Mahoning County Coroner's Office has identified the driver as 65-year-old Gregory Endsley.

The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on Poland Avenue near Walton Street.

The car appeared to be on the way from Struthers and heading into Youngstown when the crash occurred.

Endsley was taken to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities had Poland Avenue blocked off both directions in the area while the investigation took place.

An autopsy will be conducted and the incident remains under investigation by the Coroner's Office and the Youngstown Police Department.
