Every Dog Matters previews adoption event Saturday
Every Dog Matters Rescue is having an adoption event Saturday afternoon, from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Dog-Smartz Unleashed in Poland.
The Rescue has five dogs at its facility on Market Street in Boardman, where staff and volunteers spend time working with each dog, with the ultimate goal of finding the right home for the dog.
"We're able to train them on basic dog skills. Not all of them know how to sit or lay down on command. We working on kennel training, walking on leash just so when they do go to their forever home--our hope is that they're a little more house ready.", said Amanda Hamilton, president at Every Dog Matters.
Hamilton says that Saturday's event is a good opportunity for people to come out and interact with the dogs, and maybe add a four-legged friend to their families.
Some of the dogs come from the Mahoning County Dog Warden, while others are owner surrenders.
Every Dog Matters is also looking for fosters and volunteers.
Six pizza shops across the Mahoning Valley are helping their efforts to adopt out dogs with pictures of the dogs and a brief description on their pizza boxes.
In addition, there will be a golf outing at Bedford Trails golf course in Lowellville Saturday May 11.
