Earlier this week, 21 News received a call regarding a strong odor coming from an injection facility in Warren. We looked into the issue and have found the source of the odor.

21 News learned that the odor was coming from the PAC injection facility on Route 422 in Warren (5425 Parkman Road) and that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) had been alerted to the odor and was investigating.

ODNR spokesperson Andy Chow issued a statement to 21 News on Thursday that the odor was due to a company performing routine offloading of fluid at the injection well.

The fluid in question was from the recent plugging of a well and these fluids can sometimes emit a strong odor. Chow tells us there is no leak occurring in the well.

We're told the odor should subside as the water is transferred to enclosed tanks. In the meantime, ODNR's Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management will continue to monitor the situation.
