No jail time for Beloit man convicted in triple fatal crash in Carroll County

A Beloit man who was convicted in a deadly crash in Carroll County that claimed the lives of three people including an East Liverpool man will not be serving any jail time.
Prosecutors tell 21 News 55-year-old Douglas Mackey was sentenced on Wednesday to 90 days in jail, but all of those days were suspended. Mackey will still have to serve three years of probation and 50 hours of community service. His driver's license has also been suspended for five years.
Back in February, Mackey pled no contest to three counts of vehicular homicide stemming from a crash in Carroll County, Ohio back in April of 2023 that claimed the life of 60-year-old Randy Simmons of East Liverpool and two other men from Hammondsville, Ohio.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say the crash occurred after Mackey struck a Honda Odyssey head-on after traveling left of center into the opposite lane.
Prosecutors say Mackey had lost control of his vehicle and went left of center due to an issue with one of the tires.
