As peak motorcycle riding season is underway, Motorcycle Ohio is raising awareness about motorcycle safety ahead of National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in May.

In 2023, a total of 230 Ohioans were killed in motorcycle-related crashes.  This was a 47% increase in crashes compared to five years ago.

And more than 80% of those crashes occur between the months of May through October.

The Ohio Department of Public Safety established a motorcycle safety and education program 36 years ago, which provides Ohio riders the opportunity to improve their skills to make the roads safer for everyone.

The program sees around 12,000 riders completing the training course.
