First 'DORA' opens in Austintown Township

The famous line from "Field of Dreams" said 'if you build it, they will come'.
And on this warm spring day came the bikes. and the music, and the crowds. piling into Biker Brewhouse and Quaker Steak and Lube.
They gathered to celebrate the first Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, or 'DORA', in Austintown.
"It's actually bringing everything down to this cul-de-sac here in Austintown to where both of us are joining together to bring as many people as we can to both of our establishments," said Biker Brewhouse owner Larry Wilson.
"And it's good timing," added Quaker Steak general manager Bill DeForest. "You know after all the things we went through with COVID, we're really trying to bust it open and bring people down the hill."
The party kicked off with a ceremonial first pour and featured a band and around a dozen vendors.
Brandy Rider made it her business to be part of it.
"It's a great opportunity for all of us to come together and just be together as bikers and celebrate that lifestyle, and I think it's going to be great...for the businesses too," she said.
Those businesses also help support community organizations through donations; something trustees call a crucial fringe benefit.
"Having this DORA established, this will actually bring in more individuals, more money for those events, which means more money for these organizations here in Austintown," said trustee Bob Santos.
And with Summer almost here, there are sure to be more days like this one in Austintown's future.
Proof that if you build it, they will come.
