The Village of West Farmington in Trumbull County is receiving over $100,000 in H2Ohio funding for improvements to its water storage tank.

Ohio EPA Director Anne Vogel announced this award on Wednesday with West Farmington being just one of many communities across all three Mahoning Valley counties to receive funding.

West Farmington was awarded a total of $100,740 for a project consisting of the cleaning, disinfecting and installation of a tank mixer.

This will provide the needed water storage capacity for the village, help control bacteria in the water and create a more resilient water system.

"This is what [H2Ohio is] designed to do. To get money in the hands of municipalities that need that extra help to be able to get projects over the finish line to provide the best, healthiest options for Ohioans and their families," Vogel said.

The program was launched in 2019 in order to provide a long-term investment in Ohio's water quality with a focus on encouraging agricultural best management practices, restoring wetlands and improving infrastructure to reduce nutrients that contribute to harmful algal blooms.
