Bishop Bonnar to bless new parish center in Niles

The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, Bishop of Youngstown will bless the newly constructed parish center at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles.
Bishop Bonnar will celebrate Mass on Sunday, June 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church prior to the blessing. A ribbon cutting and open house will take place from noon to 2:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The new parish center building, located at 29 Erie Street in Niles, is 12,500 square feet, and features five class and meeting rooms. The facility also includes a state of the art kitchen with pizza ovens, convection ovens, fryers as well as a walk-in freezer and cooler. The hall seats 250 people at a round table and 415 with chairs.
The project cost a total of $3.3 million dollars to complete. $1.9 million has been raised by the parish to help fund the project.
The parish's 91st annual summer festival takes place Thursday, July 18, to Sunday, July 21.
On July 1, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Stephen of Niles parishes will become Saint Pope John XXIII Parish.
