In its 2024 Best Colleges analysis of more than 700 four-year colleges, Money ranked Kent State as the most affordable college in Ohio.

In its analysis, Money analyzed college affordability based on the estimated price of tuition with an average grant applied. This data comes as tuition costs across Ohio and the United States continue to rise.

According to the survey, Kent State is listed at $20,100 for its estimated tuition price including average grant money, the lowest among the 24 Ohio colleges and universities studied by Money.

Ohio State University was listed as the 2nd most affordable college in Ohio, with an estimated tuition price including average grant money at $20,700. Ohio University in Athens is ranked 4th with a $21,400 estimated price.

"Kent State remains committed to our access mission by providing competitive merit and need-based scholarships that help students pursue their educational goals while controlling costs" says Sean Broghammer, Ph.D., Kent State's vice president for enrollment management.

Kent State says that the university awards more than $415 million in financial aid annually, and 96% of first-year students receive financial aid assistance. It also utilizes a Tuition Guarantee Model, which the university says is designed to ensure that resident tuition, room and meal plan charges will not increase for undergraduate students during the ensuing four academic years from their first enrollment.

Additionally, in-state students may also be eligible for the Flashes Go Further Scholarship Program, a one-of-a-kind program covering more costs to help students attend Kent State tuition-free.
