Nearly $1 million to be used to redevelop former Damascus-Bishop Tube Company site in Mercer County
Nearly $1 million in funding from grants and loans will be used to redevelop the former Damascus-Bishop Tube Company site in Pymatuning Township in Mercer County.
According to a press release, the funding will be used to rehabilitate the 17-acre site including preparation for the construction of a 16,000 square-foot building intended for industrial use.
The project calls for the installation and connection of water, sewer and other utilities to ensure the site is ready for a potential employer.
Developer Greenville-Reynolds Development Corporation anticipates the renovated site could provide about 25 new jobs with the potential to raise that number to 100 if the building is expanded by another 64,000 square feet.
The funding for the project is coming from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development's (DCED) Business in Our Sites program. The project will cost roughly $965,000.
Pennsylvania Senator Michele Brooks is quoted in a press release saying this project is an important part of attracting businesses to the area.
"This project will rehabilitate an unused property, making it site ready for a potential employer to help boost the area's economy," Senator Brooks said.
