Brookfield man accused of leaving young kids alone in apartment pleads guilty

BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Brookfield man has pleaded guilty after being charged child endangering for a second time in less than three years.
Jerami Wells, 34, had charges filed against him after police said he left his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter and five-year-old son alone at his Addison Road apartment while he walked a third of a mile to a convenience store.
A neighbor told police that she found the apartment door open with music blaring, claiming she had been trying to reach Wells for 20 minutes.
Police said they were trying to rouse someone in the apartment when Wells arrived, claiming he had only been gone about five or ten minutes.
When the officer asked if Wells if he knew why it was not acceptable to leave a five and one-year-old home alone, the police report said he replied "no."
Wells will be sentenced on the endangering children charge after a presentence investigation.
