The City of Youngstown is holding an open house Wednesday night to give people a look at a project designed to keep sewage from flowing into the lakes and streams in Mill Creek Park.

Members of the public are invited to the informational event focusing on the Mill Creek Interceptor Sewer Project on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Michael Kusalaba Library, located at 2815 Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44509.

Community members can learn about the project's preliminary design phase, ongoing fieldwork, and what to expect during the design and construction processes.

City representatives and the project team will be available to answer questions and discuss the importance of the infrastructure improvement.

The Mill Creek Interceptor Sewer Project, scheduled for construction between 2025 and 2027, aims to enhance the city's sewer system in the area encompassing Lake Glacier, Lake Newport, and Mill Creek Park.

The project is currently in its preliminary design phase, which includes various field studies such as soil studies, topographic surveys, stream and wetland assessments, sewer inspections, wildlife studies, and cultural resources surveys.

The event will feature informational poster stations highlighting each field activity involved in the project.

Attendees will also have the chance to learn how to access additional project information online.

For those unable to attend the open house, information about the project is available on the dedicated website: https://bit.ly/youngstownMCSI.

Families are encouraged to participate. No formal presentation will be given, allowing those attending to drop in at their convenience during the event hours.
