Government seismographs detected an earthquake under Lake Erie late Tuesday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Earthquake Information Center, a magnitude 1.8 tremor was recorded about six miles northwest of the Lake County community of Eastlake, Ohio.

The quake was recorded shortly before 9:30 p.m.

According to the USGS earthquakes with magnitudes between 1 and 3 are not felt, except by very few people under especially favorable conditions.
