Detour plans updated for bridge replacement on East Gilmore Road in Mercer County
The proposed detour plan for a double bridge replacement in Mercer County has been updated for motorists to look at.
It's happening on East Gilmore Road in Wolf Creek Township, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The two bridges, built in 1959, are on East Gilmore Road between the intersection with Route 173 and the intersection of Centertown Road, both of which are owned by the county.
Both bridges are classified in poor condition and will be replaced on the existing alignment with construction happening at the same time. Work is expected to begin in 2025.
Because of other work planned in the area next year, the proposed detour route has been changed.
The new detour will be using Route 173, to Daugherty Road and Centertown Road.
Folks located between the bridges can access their homes using Montgomery Dam Road to Scrubgrass Road to Route 173.
The public can give feedback on the project by reaching out to PennDOT Project Manager Greg Lindsay or 814-678-7365.
About 500 vehicles travel on those bridges daily.
