$1 million announced for traffic improvements at Lawrence County business park

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) have announced the approval of $1 million in new funding for transportation infrastructure improvements for a business park site in Lawrence County.
According to a press release, $1 million in Transportation Infrastructure Funds were approved for Stonecrest Business Park in New Beaver Borough.
The funds will go towards roadway improvements at the site of the business park including the widening of SR-18 and the installation of north and southbound lanes to accommodate for increased traffic.
Funds will also be used for the installation of new stormwater culverts at and around the entrance to the business park, as well as improvements related to the signalization of the new intersection to be created at the entrance of the business park and SR-18.
According to the release, these improvements will help provide highway access from SR-18 for the development of the business park, opening up a total of 110 acres of land designed to hold up to 1.5 million square feet of commercial and industrial space.
Upon full buildout, the siter is expected to support up to 1,000 new jobs at tenant business locations.
The proposed business park will house light manufacturing businesses, warehouse space and pad-ready sites with public utilities. A groundbreaking ceremony for the site was held in March.
