BOARDMAN, Ohio - The Boardman Local School District has announced its policy for free and reduced price meals for students for the 2024-25 school year.

Each school office, as well as the central office has a copy of the policy. The federal income eligibility guidelines will be used for determining eligibility.

Children from families who are at or below the federal guidelines will be eligible for free and reduced price meals.

Those who wish to apply for free and reduced price meals may pick up a paper application at each school building's office, or print one out from the district's website.

Households that currently receive SNAP or OWF benefits for a child must provide the child's name, the SNAP / OWF case number and the signature of an adult member of the household.

Those who don't receive SNAP or OWF benefits must provide the names of all household members, the last four digits of the signing adult's Social Security Number (state "none" if you don't have one), the amount of income received by each household member and the signature of an adult household member.

Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits regardless of income, but households still must complete the application process. Any family with foster children interested in applying should contact the school for more information.

Families will be notified on whether or not their child is eligible for free or reduced price meals. In the event that you disagree with the district's decision, you can request a formal appeal hearing. This can be requested orally or in written form.

Households may apply for benefits any time throughout the school year.
