The Youngstown State University Summer Festival of the Arts announced its return to campus July 12th and 13th in 2025.

The weekend event  which showcases artistic talents of our region, will once again take place on the university grounds in the park-like setting.

"It hasn't been here since 2019 and so we are happy to be able to welcome our artists and our community members back. Our emails have already been buzzing about the excitement in the community," Shannon Tyrone, vice president of university relations said.

For about five years the fest had been moved to Wean Park next to the Covelli Centre.

Many people we talked with this year complained there were no places to sit in the shade, and no places to eat indoors or cool off.

Others pointed out vendors spread out over great distances are not good for folks using canes, or walkers.

They will be happy to have the festival of the arts back on campus.

"It's been a couple of years they have been asking for it," Tyrone emphasized. "A lot of the artists who attended the YSU Summer Festival of Arts are alumni of the institution and it was interesting because when President Johnson first came to campus he set one of his goals of us as a university of interacting and partaking more with the community so this was a perfect fit with us."

At it's peak 15,000 folks visited the campus to shop, enjoy food and live entertainment.

In 2025 YSU will open its buildings again so folks and prospective students not only cool down inside, but also check out campus facilities.
