WEST TWP., Columbiana Co., Ohio - One person is dead after being thrown from a vehicle in Columbiana County early Sunday morning.

According to a press release, the crash happened on U.S. Route 30 in West Township around 3:30 a.m. when a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by 30-year-old Brandon Barringer of Kensington struck an embankment and overturned throwing Barringer from the vehicle.

Barringer was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Troopers say he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and drugs and alcohol appear to be a factor.

OSP was assisted by Minerva Fire and EMS crews and the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office.

OSP reminds drivers to always wear their seat belts and to never get behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
