NORTH JACKSON, Ohio - FirstEnergy says its recently constructed operations service center in North Jackson will allow quicker response to power outages in the Mahoning Valley.

The nearly 20,000-square-foot center is strategically located within Ohio Edison's service area, encompassing the greater Youngstown region, and is designed to streamline operations and enhance efficiency for the local high-voltage power grid.

According to FirstEnergy, the new outpost offers personnel quicker access to essential transmission equipment and materials, improving service reliability and minimizing the impact of outages for customers.

The central hub is available to nearly a dozen FirstEnergy transmission line workers based in the Mahoning Valley. They will benefit from faster access to resources needed for daily work and service-related issues.

"Following the severe storms in early August, the centralized location of materials and resources in this facility allowed for a quicker restoration effort," said Mark Mroczynski, president of transmission at FirstEnergy

The service center, situated on a 10-acre plot off North Bailey Road, also includes dedicated office and storage space. An additional 15,000-square-foot storage facility sits adjacent to the main building, specifically designed to house large transmission equipment such as transformers, power lines, and insulators.
