YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - This Thanksgiving season, Tony "Bear" Landis is getting together with his local biker group to participate in the 6th annual Turkey Trot.

This initiative is meant to provide a Thanksgiving meal to those less fortunate, homeless and local veterans in need and is supported through the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

The biker group organized at noon November 23 and rode to the Boardman Walmart located at 1300 Doral Drive to buy out all of the turkeys and other fixings with the intention to deliver them to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

"When it comes to the heart, there's no better feeling. God bless," said Tony "Bear" Landis when discussing the event.

According to a press release, during the 2023 season, the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley served 123,736 meals. This release stated, " This translates to an average of 339 meals served daily."

Mike Byers, the kitchen director at the Rescue Mission said," We are so grateful for Mr. Landis and his group faithfully providing us turkeys and sides for our Thanksgiving meal. We have seen a substantial increase in meals being served so it is even more of a blessing to have these faithful donors meeting the need."
