#1 Cochran presents $45,000 check to United Way from 'Operation Santa' campaign

BOARDMAN, Ohio - Representatives from #1 Cochran presented a $45,000 check to the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley on Monday.
The check was to culminate #1 Cochran's annual "Operation Santa" campaign in which the auto group pledged to donate $50 from the sale of every new and used vehicle sold in Ohio throughout December to the United Way.
Those funds will support local initiatives throughout the year, as well as the Care Closet at Boardman Center Intermediate School, which provides hygiene and food items for children in need.
United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley President Bob Hannon thanked #1 Cochran for their support in the initiative.
"This is the check that will make a huge difference. $45,000 is a lot of money and we'll put it to good use for this year," Hannon said.
Hannon said a lot of the funds will go towards the organization's "Saturday of Caring" program, which happens on the third Saturday of every month.
"We feed 470 families. Most of those families are shut-ins. We have drivers take food to people throughout the Mahoning Valley," Hannon said.
Hannon added that #1 Cochran employees participate in that program.
